Metal is the way to go when it comes to garden furniture. Personal experience would make this so. The pros and cons have been wagered. Metal gets the vote.

Plastic garden furniture may be cheaper, but that is only to start. You can move it easily as well, but that is also where the problem may lay. Never do you have to paint plastic furniture, nor do you have to worry about rust. It can rain and still look the way it was when you bought it.

Here are some problems that come with plastic furniture, however. The wind can blow and there goes your chair or even your table. The sun shines and now your furniture is pale in comparison to your beautiful garden. There might come a time when you sit and the next thing you know you are sitting on the ground instead. Plastic furniture has a habit of breaking, not being very forgiving when it comes to the constraints of the human roughness. There is also the tip back factor. Do not lean too far unless you plan on star or cloud gazing. Say your plastic furniture has stood the test of time and you want to paint it to bring back the boldness. Plastic does not like paint so much. The paint feels and looks more like a thick layer added instead of a fresh makeover.
Problems with metal furniture, there are plenty. It costs more than plastic furniture to begin with. Taking care of it is a little more time consuming and it may be slightly more expensive. Coated metal furniture cracks with time and weather and has a habit of rusting. Occasionally metal garden furniture breaks.

In the end metal furniture lasts longer, making the price worth all the while. It does not fade in the sun’s rays and does not blow with the wind. Mother Nature is a little more forgiving it seems. Metal garden furniture seems to hold up when rough housing ensues. When you feel the need for a good stretch you do not have to worry that your body will meet the ground. When the paint has cracked and needs a fresh coat, metal furniture takes paint on like a champ. There is no caked on look, just a nice new look.

All in all, metal garden furniture is the way to go. Cost is nothing when it lasts.

The summer is a great time of year to expand your living space outside to a cozy room. I get excited when I start thinking about how to design my outdoor rooms. My metal garden furniture is on the back patio. It is a nice white color with blue and white striped cushions.

Entertaining my family and friends is great on my outside patio. My garden furniture has two chairs, one is a rocker and my sofa is large enough to take a much needed nap. The coffee table has a glass top and is great for our drinks and food. On a warm summer day the furniture is so comfortable and relaxing on my patio. Plus, it gives me more living room to entertain and enjoy my guess indoor and outdoors.

Metal furniture is more stable than plastic garden furniture. The plastic tends to get black stains and cracks which is not a problem with metal garden furniture. With the right care it will last for years. I cover mine and put it in the basement in the winter.

On my front porch my cast iron garden furniture set is made up of a table with two chairs. It is compact and fits well on my front porch. Great for any evening of tea and watching the sun go down. I am able to keep my cast iron garden furniture outdoors all year round because it is covered. Each needs to be taken care of yearly for rust and maintenance, but that is a part of any outdoor furniture. My metal garden furniture is not as heavy as my cast iron garden furniture. I only have three pieces of the cast iron to move around. The purchase has been a successful one and each should be considered for what you are going to be using it for in your outdoor summer living rooms.

Shopping around for the right fit and space is the most important thing. Although the cost can be higher than other garden furniture, the Metal and Cast Iron Garden Furniture will certainly out last other plastics and cheap made wooden brands. It is a toss up between the two types of garden furniture and each person will need to make the decision about their own needs and space.

Use of special pieces of outdoor furniture can be dated back to the 1800’s. This is when rockers and porch swings first became popular. In the 1930’s more options of outdoor furniture had been created. Aluminum and cast iron garden furniture were among the more popular choices in metal furniture used during this time. These are also still used to this day. This furniture is designed to entertain guests, to escape and relax on while outdoors and it is also used to decorate the outside of many homes today.

Wrought iron or cast iron metals work wonderfully in areas that are known to have heavy winds and storms. It is a heavier metal. This type of outdoor metal garden furniture can last for many years. It is meant to be placed and left where it is, as it is heavy. The design in the cast iron can be simple, sleek curves or can obtain intricate scroll work. Many people use cast iron benches, because of their beauty, to decorate the exterior of the home.If using the cast iron or wrought iron furniture for lounging, it is best to purchase outdoor cushions for the seat and back. The metal tends to be hard and cold which makes it not very comfortable for entertaining.

Aluminum is a lighter weight metal. This type of outdoor metal garden furniture is useful if the piece needs to be portable. It does not stand up to storms or heavy winds the way that cast iron will. It is so light that, in some cases, poor weather can blow the furniture around. However, most pieces of this outdoor furniture can easily be folded and put away during inclement weather. The aluminum metal garden furniture also costs quite a bit less than that made of cast iron.

With both types of metal outdoor garden furniture, aluminum or cast iron, the pieces should all be powder coated to prevent the metals from rusting. The powder coating will help the furniture withstand many different weather conditions. It can also help to make some aluminum pieces sturdier. With this special coating the furniture is also easier to clean. In most cases it will just need to be sprayed down with a hose or with a power washer. The paint will also last longer and will not chip if the coating has been properly applied to the metal.

Both choices, aluminum and cast iron, are wonderful for metal garden furniture. Before purchasing any type of outdoor garden furniture, make a checklist of what is needed from the furniture. This will help in the buying decision.

The key to keeping any type of metal garden furniture looking good is to keep it clean and fresh looking. Keeping your metal garden furniture clean is an easy task to accomplish. It can be done with every day cleaning supplies that you already keep in your home.

The first step in cleaning metal outdoor furniture is to gather the materials that are needed. You will need a soft cloth, water with soap, water hose and some sort of cleaning brush or scrub.

Before you put these items to use, you will need to remove any particles from the metal garden furniture that have managed to get stuck in the furniture or have just fallen on the pieces. Make sure to clean off all branches and leaves that have landed and take the time to also remove any are that have been struck with bird droppings.

Start the cleaning process using the hose to wash away any dust or dirt that the garden furniture has acquired. Take specific time to focus on any stains from plants or spills from other products.

After the top layer of dirt and grime has been removed, use the soapy water to clean the metal garden furniture more efficiently. Scrubbing the furniture with a scrub brush and soapy water will help to remove all stains that were too difficult to remove with a water hose.

After you have focused on trouble areas, wash off the soapy water with a second water spray using the water hose.

It is a wise idea to dry off the garden furniture off with a dry cloth. Once the furniture is dry, take the time to apply a finish to the furniture to ensure best results.

There are many different products available that focus on providing a beautiful finish to the furniture, as well as help to prevent future stains.

If you wish to make a solution at home, you can mix vinegar and water to rub over the furniture. Another good type of solution that is found at your home is car wax. This wax helps to make your furniture really shine, all while keeping the furniture protected.

When the days are warm and sunny, you want to be able to go into your garden or backyard and enjoy some fun times. Maybe you are planning on having family and friends over for a barbeque or just a friendly get-together. So you want garden furniture that will be attractive and comfortable. It wouldn’t hurt if it was strong as well. What do you choose? How about metal garden furniture?

There are a number of good benefits to owning metal garden furniture. First and foremost, metal furniture is very strong. It will be around for years with the proper care. You know that it will stand up to the elements and not be easy to damage or break. And should you experience any breakage of your furniture, it will probably be able to be repaired rather than having to be replaced.

You will also find metal furniture to be relatively easy to care for. A cleaning with soap and water and a rinsing with the garden hose is usually all that is needed. Should something be spilled on it, you do not have to worry. It can easily be washed off without hurting the furniture. And applying a coating of wax that is appropriate for metal furniture will protect it even further.

Metal garden furniture is very attractive. You can invite family and friends over, have everyone congregate on the patio, and know that your furniture will look elegant and charming. With the addition of colorful chair cushions, a metal patio set will be comfortable as well.

Since metal furniture is heavier than other types of garden furniture, you do not have to worry about having it blow away when winds strike. This can be especially reassuring if you live in an area where winds and storms can be frequent. Unless you experience unusually high winds, your metal furniture should stay put.

Most often, you will see metal garden furniture in either black or white. But it can also be coated in other finishes. Depending on your taste and the decor of your patio, you can now choose a color that will be most appealing.

Because of the popularity of this type of furniture, there is quite a selection available, making your job of choosing the right set of patio furniture relatively simple. You should have no problem in finding a style that will not only blend in with your patio design, but will appeal to you as well.

So if you are on the fence about what type of garden furniture you should purchase, give some serious thought to metal garden furniture. It will last for years, look attractive and elegant, be comfortable, and reflect your good taste.
